INTRUDER SHORT FILM - A Mental Health Impact Story
Lonely and paranoid, Hannah is home alone, when strange occurences haunt her house and her mind… Is she in real danger or is her mind playing tricks on her?
✨SHIFTING MINDESTS and behaviors about how MENTAL HEALTH is perceived and talked about ✨
This short film is very close to our hearts because it is more than a suspenseful movie. We live in a chaotic world where misconceptions, lack of communication, and snap judgements leave people feeling disconnected, misunderstood, and alone. This directly impacts the day-to-day mental health and quality of life of individuals, families and communities. Furthermore, mental illness is often misunderstood or misrepresented in the media.
Intruder leverages the artistic expression of film to portray an imposing perspective that illuminates the internal battles of mental illness, of struggle, and of separateness to engage viewers in a unified and profoundly eye-opening experience.
We want to give people a space to connect and better understand themselves and each other after watching our film. We hope it will spark authentic conversations and explorations into where “Intruders” invade our own sense of connection and inspire curiosity, empathy and a shift toward greater wellbeing.
✨WE NEED YOUR HELP ✨
Your contributions will go towards:
👩🏽🤝👨🏼 Cast & Crew: Even though passion projects and indie filmmakers often rely on asking cast and crew for favors, we know the effects that long and stressful shoot days can have on people, especially with sensitive topics like this. Therefore, we want to compensate our team fairly, provide good and safe working conditions, along with food, and transportation. Your donation can help make this movie while caring for the mental and physical health of everyone involved.
🎥 Equipment: In order create high quality film production we need professional gear. We have meticulously planned scenes that include underwater sequences and lighting.
🪄Effects: This film deals with delusions and therefore needs special effects to distort reality with specialty shots that showcase the fragility of the mind.
🏠 Location: The house plays a major role in the film. The location is its own character that feels alive within our story, with its long hallways, large windows and eerie backyard. All of these elements contribute to a suspenseful atmosphere that creates the perfect canvas for Hannah’s sense of isolation and paranoia. Therefore, we wrote the script with a specific location in mind.
📣 Impact Campaign: As Impact Producers, The Shift will facilitate an impact strategy and campaign for Intruder that will increase visibilaty, amplify the message, and provide educational resources for cast, crew, and audiences alike.

I like to share stories that celebrate diversity and inclusion, about people who often seem misrepresented or misunderstood in our society, as I have done with my previous work, which represents themes of female empowerment, diversity and representation of trans and non-binary people, and same-sex love of all ages and generations. Therefore, while Intruder is a thriller that seeks to entertain, its message hopefully sparks a conversation about mental health.
